What I know
(Bev's Blog)

Welcome to Big Moose Resort at Cooke City, Montana, at the northeast entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Big Moose Resort is located 3 miles East of Cooke City on Colter Pass, or 7 miles East of the Northeast Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. If you are planning a trip to Yellowstone National Park, Big Moose Resort is the perfect place to set up "base camp".
  Cooke City is a very

unique small town of 90 year round residents.

What I know for Sure about the Big Moose Resort:

-the definition of 'Resort', a place to rest and/or recreate

-GREATLY APPRECIATES OUR VISITORS and

treats them how we would want to be treated when

we are a visitor to their area! Without YOU we would

  not be in business!

-does not serve food but accomodates with kitchenettes     and has 2 efficiency cabins with microwave

fridge and coffee pot. The town has 5 Star restaurants,

according to LOCALS and VISITORS, so why COOK!

-provides a hot tub on the porch of the lodge

-amentities include a massage therapist (by appointment)

-owned & operated by Bev & Todd Chatelain since 2001

-all pet friendly rooms and non-smoking

-works on the "honesty system" and if we are

not on the premises to assure you of your room then

it is unlocked & waiting whenever you may arrive!

-is priced "low" compared to amenities of area cabins or

  lodging options.

-strives to improve yearly on the comfort of your cabin

from remodels and furnishings or set the feel of a

  home type atmoshpere

-simple, casual and at a slow pace.

-we are under snow from November until Memorial

Day, opening weekend.  You may not see any green

grass on the premises until late June, but we promise

we do have grass, so don't come to early in the year

to Big Moose if your looking for Summer in June, you

won't find it! You may have to walk your dog in snow!

Is this what your looking for?

Big Moose provides easy year round access to Yellowstone National Park, and the beautiful Lamar Valley, and a quiet relaxing place to hang your hat at the end of the day. Even though we have a "laid back" atmosphere to take you away from the "hussle bussle" city life,we offer FREE WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS!  For those folks who count on a cell phone, plan ahead because there is no cell service available in the Cooke City Area, not many areas of Yellowstone or the Scenic Mountain Drives from Cody or Red Lodge.  There are no phones in our cabins.  However, the office is available for your use to check in by phone.

Therapeutic Massage of Cooke City, by apppointment only. Located at the Big Moose Resort, offering Swedish Massage!  Call or email for appointments or more information! Bev Chatelain, RN, CMT

HOT TUB available at the Lodge, outside on the porch!   Enjoy the fresh mountain air while looking at Montana's Big Sky of Stars!

We offer NEW CABIN LODGING as well as other very comfortable, spacious, clean, economic cabins with private baths, satellite TV and a rustic cabin atmosphere. The Cabin page has specific descriptions of our 4 cabins, #5, #6, #8, #9 so review and ask questions when you call for reservations.
